塩尻と勝沼をつないだ中央高速自動車道
Katsunuma has long been the leader of Japanese winemaking and is home to Château Mercian. A highway was extended to connect Katsunuma to Suwa in November 1982, to Okaya in March 1986, and to Shiojiri in March 1988. This infrastructure improvement enhanced access to Shiojiri’s vineyards and facilitated the transportation of Merlot grapes harvested in Shiojiri to wineries in Katsunuma.
甲州勝沼は、シャトー・メルシャンをはじめ、古くから日本のワイン醸造所の集積地であった。高速自動車道は、勝沼から諏訪へは1982年11月に、岡谷へは1986年3月に、そして塩尻へは1988年3月に結ばれた。高速道路の整備によって、勝沼のワイン醸造所はメルローなど塩尻で栽培されたブドウ品種を利用しやすくなった。
